Ingredients:
For the Dough
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon
- saltWater (as needed)
For the Chicken Filling
- 250 grams ground chicken
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2-3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1-inch ginger, minced
- 1-2 green chilies, finely chopped (optional)
- 1/2 cup finely chopped cabbage
- 1/4 cup finely chopped spring onions
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Salt to taste
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
For Frying
- Oil for deep frying
For the Dipping Sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- 1 teaspoon chili sauce (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon honey or sugar
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon finely chopped spring onions
Instructions:
Preparing the Dough
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt.
- Gradually add water and knead until you get a smooth and elastic dough.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.
Preparing the Chicken Filling
- In a pan, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic, ginger, and green chilies. Sauté for a minute until fragrant.
- Add the finely chopped onion and cabbage. Cook until they soften.
- Add the ground chicken and cook until it turns white and is cooked through.
- Add soy sauce, sesame oil, black pepper, and salt. Mix well.
- Finally, add the finely chopped spring onions. Stir well and cook for another minute.
- Remove from heat and let the filling cool to room temperature.
Assembling the Momos
- Divide the dough into small, equal-sized balls.
- Roll each ball into a thin circle, about 3-4 inches in diameter.
- Place a tablespoon of chicken filling in the center of each circle.
- Fold and pleat the edges to seal the momos. You can shape them into half-moons or round dumplings, as per your preference.
Frying the Momos
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan or wok over medium heat.
- Once the oil is hot, carefully add the momos in batches. Fry them until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the fried momos and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
Preparing the Dipping Sauce
- In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, vinegar, chili sauce, sesame oil, honey (or sugar), minced garlic, and finely chopped spring onions. Mix well.
Serving
- Serve the fried chicken momos hot with the prepared dipping sauce.
