Oreo Chocolate Cheesecake Cake

Ingredients

For the Chocolate Cake:

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 12 Oreo cookies, crushed

For the Cheesecake Layer:

  • 16 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 10 Oreo cookies, crushed

For the Oreo Buttercream Frosting:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 12 Oreo cookies, finely crushed

For Garnish:

  • Extra Oreo cookies, whole or crushed
  • Chocolate ganache (optional)
  • Fresh berries (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Cheesecake Layer:

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C). Grease and line an 8-inch round cake pan with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add the sugar and mix until combined.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Fold in the crushed Oreo cookies.
  • Pour the mixture into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the center is set. Allow to cool completely, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

Prepare the Chocolate Cake:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans, then line the bottoms with parchment paper.

Prepare the Oreo Buttercream Frosting:

  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
  • Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, mixing until smooth.
  • Add the heavy cream and vanilla extract, and beat until the frosting is light and fluffy.
  • Fold in the finely crushed Oreo cookies.

Assemble the Cake:

  • Place one of the cooled chocolate cake layers on a serving plate or cake stand.
  • Carefully place the chilled cheesecake layer on top of the chocolate cake layer.
  • Place the second chocolate cake layer on top of the cheesecake layer.
  • Spread the Oreo buttercream frosting over the top and sides of the cake.

Garnish:

  • Decorate the top of the cake with extra Oreo cookies, either whole or crushed.
  • Optionally, drizzle chocolate ganache over the top for extra decadence.
